Event Description:
Take the same moderate 2 mile round trip hike between Val-Kill and FDR's Top Cottage retreat that First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt liked to take whenever possible. When at Top Cottage, learn about the Presiden't place built to "escape the mob" at the family home down on the Hudson River. This hike returns to Val-Kill, the Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site on Rt. 9G.

Trip Characteristics: The hike takes place on a portion of the Hyde Park trail that continually but gently increases in elevation for the first half of the program.
Additional Equipment required: This is a heavily wooded trail and insect repellent is highly suggested!

Additional Activities: Participants are free to visit FDR's retreat home Top cottage and may either hike back to Val-Kill or they may take the Roosevelt Ride shuttle bus from Top Cottage to Val-Kill at 2:00PM. No charge for the top Cottage visit or use of the shuttle.
