Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of Hudson River Valley:

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Hudson River Valley is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AAA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Limitations and alternatives

Known limitations for hudsonrivervalley.com: 

  • Imagemaps and Anchors: Imagemap area element may be missing alt attribute as well as some Anchors may not contain text. Because of the nature of how Google Maps handles some of the imagemaps and anchores it is not feasable for us to include ALT attributes on these tags.
  • We have set a standard to meet a contrast ratio of 4.5:1. If you struggle to see text overlaying a color or image on this site please contact us so that we may evaluate your concern.
  • Google Youtube embedded videos do not have a title attributes.
  • Several Google Maps controls (Zoom In, Zoom Out, Fullscreen) are missing alt text for the image icons and is a limitation of the Google plugin.
